- I got to this show late and didn't have a floor ticket so it wasn't easy finding a patch. At the very last minute I see these guys behind the stage with their mics setup on tent poles pointed at rear facing repeaters and split by the aisle dead center. Less crowd, great view, nice mics and no security back there. Only problem was that no one in the patch chain talked to anyone else and everyone just flipped their tapes anytime they felt like it. Being towards the end of the chain I got a lot of cuts in my recording and always hoped that someone else higher up on that food chain would convert this sweet sounding source but it has never surfaced; so here's a taste.

IT IS VERY SIMPLY STATED ''THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE GRATEFUL DEAD.PERIOD.PEOPLE SAY WHAT THEY WILL ABOUT THIS TEAR OR THAT YEAR AND EACH YEAR HAS IT'S OWN FEEL AND GROOVE, AND I AM NOT GONNA GET IN TO THE KILLER YEARS LIKE '72,'73'74 '76,'77.BUT IN THE '80'S I THINK UP UNTIL LATE 1988 THE BOY'S HAD PLENTY OF ENERGY.THESE SHOW'S IN THE FALL OF '83 WERE SMOKE THESE DUDES WERE PLAYIN' WITH HIGH ENERGY AND THIS NIGHT IN THE CITY THEY DID NOT LET US DOWN FROM THE FIRST NOTES OF COLD RAIN TILL THE END OF REVOLUTION I SMILED UNCONTROLLABLY.WHEN WE WERE IN RICHMOND A COUPLE DAY'S B4 I SAID TO MY FRIEND AT THE END OF THAT SHOW THIS TOUR WILL BE GREAT AND SURE ENOUGH I WAS RIGHT ON THE MONEY.THANKS TO A BUNCH OF GELS,AS WELL AS CAP'S AND STEMS.GREAT NORTH CENTRAL WERE YOU ON BOARD?
